Inspired by the example of the first Bon Secours Sisters who brought health care outside the walls of their convent – ours is a vision to bring the critically important breast health screenings to the uninsured, underinsured, in churches, community centers and workplace health fairs.
As part of the Breast Health Program, St. Francis’s goal is to sponsor a MOM (Mobile On-site Mammography) van traveling throughout the Upstate and proactively engage at-risk populations offering mammography screenings and education on breast self-exams.
With almost 20,000 mammograms last year alone, the St. Francis Breast Health department is meeting an overwhelming demand and fulfilling a vital, growing need. In fact, Breast Imaging volumes have increased 104% between fiscal years 2007-2010. Growing with the needs of this community, this MOM van will allow us to reach many more women with state-of-the-art, compassionate care.
